Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala presents a sculptural student showcase at BFW Day One
The Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala marked the opening show of Day One at the 27th edition of Bangalore Fashion Week with a student showcase of dramatic silhouettes, layered contrasts and tactile surface work.
Bengaluru, 15 October 2026 — The Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala brought a student-led showcase to the opening show of Day One at the 27th edition of Bangalore Fashion Week, presenting looks that moved between structure and fluidity, restraint and flourish. Across the selection, the collection held a strong graphic instinct, with sharp tailoring set against softer drape and voluminous detailing.
A black blazer paired with deep red trousers introduced a disciplined silhouette, interrupted by a sculpted red shoulder detail that gave the look a pronounced asymmetry. Elsewhere, a white ensemble unfolded in a more ethereal register, with feathered sleeves spreading outward from the body and a long, columnar skirt carrying the look in a quiet, luminous line.
The black strapless bodice and glossy, layered skirt brought a darker, more dramatic mood, the sheen of the fabric catching the runway light and adding depth to the silhouette. In contrast, a white off-shoulder top with voluminous sleeves was styled with a black skirt and a green underlayer, creating a sharp interplay of colour, transparency and movement.
Throughout the showcase, the students worked with contrast as a defining language. Matte and reflective surfaces sat together, while fitted bodices were offset by wide sleeves, trailing hems and wrapped forms. The palette shifted from black and white to red and green, giving the collection a vivid, contemporary edge.
The result was a presentation that felt experimental yet controlled, with each look building on a sense of construction and texture. Rather than relying on excess, the showcase found its strength in silhouette, surface and proportion, offering a clear expression of design training shaped for the runway.
