BFW Day One moves from sculptural student work to ornate occasionwear
Bangalore Fashion Week’s Day One at its 27th edition traced a wide arc of form and finish, from experimental student silhouettes to ceremonial drapes, quiet tailoring and floral romance across six showcases.
Bengaluru, 15 October 2026 — Day One at the 27th edition of Bangalore Fashion Week moved with deliberate contrast, beginning in the hands of student designers and widening into a sequence of polished occasionwear, restrained tailoring and ornamental drape. The line-up, in running order, brought together Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala, Nitte School of Fashion Technology & Interior Design, Pradeeptha Reddy Label, ELANVITTO by Razal, Ethnic Fashion by Yogita Khare and Abhi Singh.
Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala set a sculptural tone with dramatic silhouettes, layered contrasts and tactile surface work. The student showcase established the day’s appetite for construction and volume, placing form at the centre and using texture to sharpen the visual language.
Nitte School of Fashion Technology & Interior Design followed with a collection that moved from sweeping volume to sharply constructed surface-led separates. White, black, red and beige created a controlled palette, while couture-like detailing and experimental forms gave the work a precise, architectural edge.
Pradeeptha Reddy Label shifted the mood towards ceremony. Richly worked occasion looks in jewel tones and metallics brought embroidery-led finishes to lehenga skirts and sari-inspired drapes, creating a polished rhythm that read ornate without losing structure. ELANVITTO by Razal then pared the palette back, turning to fluid tailoring, soft drape and muted neutrals. Ivory, sand and black gave the collection a quiet composure, with the looks carrying a restrained, polished finish.
Ethnic Fashion by Yogita Khare introduced a more romantic register, moving between vivid drapes, embroidered blouses and floral volumes. Saturated blues, pinks, yellow and black brought colour into motion, while the surface and silhouette together suggested a softer, more decorative line. Abhi Singh closed the day’s visual arc with ornate surface work and flowing silhouettes in pinks, ivory and purple, pairing embroidered jackets and tunics with fluid skirts, shararas and veils. Across the day, the contrasts were clear: sculptural and fluid, restrained and ornate, experimental and ceremonial, each collection adding another register to the season’s opening chapter.
